Interferences become openings. Cut for real, verified by measurement.

Opes reads the services in the loaded links against one level's walls, floors and roofs and proposes the openings — grouped where they should be, checked against structural rules, sized in millimetres. Nothing is cut until you approve it and confirm; then every hole is a real void cut, verified by measurement, sealed with its record, and one Ctrl+Z takes the whole batch back.

Why Opes exists

The hole exists in the clash report, not in the wall.

Openings for penetrations are agreed clash by clash, drawn as symbols that cut nothing, and forgotten the moment the services move.

By hand
  • Interferences reviewed one clash at a time — nobody sees the five 30 cm apart that should share a hole.
  • The “opening” is an annotation; the wall is still solid where the duct goes.
  • Why a hole through a shear wall was allowed is in an email, if anywhere.
Through Opes
  • Proposals grouped per host, each judged by named structural rules — with the measurement as evidence wherever a rule measured one.
  • A real void cut, verified three ways — volume dropped, relation admitted, landed on the asked host.
  • A prohibition is only ever overridden by a SIGNED justification, sealed into the opening's record.

One level, read, not touched.

Open a plan view and Analyse level reads the services from every loaded link against that level's walls, floors and roofs — reading only, nothing is cut without asking. The summary lands as fact — 14 proposals · 0 clean · 9 warnings · 5 prohibited — with the hosts listed on the left, each carrying its proposal count and its worst verdict, and a last line naming the criteria they were judged against: here the project's own opes-rules.json, not the built-in defaults. A cancelled analysis keeps nothing.

Judged

Every hole is argued before it exists.

Each proposal carries a verdict badge — Clean, Warnings, Prohibited — and its findings underneath, with the measurement quoted wherever a rule measured one: the size against the host's thickness, the spacing to the next opening, the distance to the edge. A categorical verdict — a shear wall, a fire rating, a host somebody else owns — says so in a sentence instead, because there is no number to quote. And a rule that cannot evaluate says “Could not check: …” as a warning, never silence — a rule book that fails quietly is a rule book nobody can trust.

Your hand

Edit like a person; physics still wins.

Type sizes in millimetres — clamped by the services' own clearance, with the reason said. Merge selected joins proposals into one hole: your call prevails over the grouping, never over the clearances. Split takes it back apart; Add opening… places a hand opening at a point you pick on the host itself, Esc cancels. The review view — a section for a wall, a boxed 3D for a floor — overlays live silhouettes that follow every edit.

New to Revit: human judgement over the grouping — with physics as the only veto.

A prohibition is overridden in writing or not at all.

A Prohibited proposal cannot be approved until its justification is signed: “A prohibited opening is only applied over a SIGNED justification, sealed with it.” Write why this one is acceptable, and on whose criterion — the structural engineer's email has a home at last, sealed into the opening's own record. Withdraw the text, and the proposal goes back to prohibited.

Justify overriding a prohibition
This opening violates a hard structural rule. It is only ever applied over a SIGNED justification, which is sealed into the opening's record — write why this one is acceptable, and on whose criterion. Leave it empty to withdraw an earlier justification.
Approved by P. Reyes (structural) 2026-08-26 — local reinforcement detail S-411 covers the 200×200 penetration.

Cut

The confirm, the cut, the measurement.

Apply asks first — “Cut 9 openings?” … One Ctrl+Z undoes the whole batch — then runs one assimilated transaction group, “BIMIO Opes — openings for level B1”. Revit's warnings are swallowed so a batch never stops on a modal; errors still roll back. And each cut must earn its row: the volume actually dropped, the cut relation admitted, the opening landed on the asked host — only then does it say Cut and verified.

Each approved opening is placed on its host's face and the host's geometry is REALLY cut, then verified by measurement and sealed with its record. 1 of them override a prohibition under a signed justification, which is sealed with the opening.

The opening remembers; the model cannot drift quietly.

Every opening carries its record in Extensible Storage on the element itself — delete the opening and the record goes with it. Check seals re-measures the lot against today's model and writes the honest statuses back: stale, orphaned, still failed, locked but diverged, unverifiable (unloaded links), recovered. Orphans are offered for deletion by name; Purge… takes everything Opes ever sealed back out, count shown first, one Ctrl+Z to restore.

Clash asks; a reviewer without Revit answers.

Clash marks its findings resolved through Opes' sealed openings, and can jump into Opes per host — never per clash, because the hole serves the wall, not one interference. Export Excel… hands the proposals to whoever approves offline; Import decisions… brings them back by mark, and every decision that cannot land is said by name. Every apply writes its own HTML report.
